Project Description
Patricia Smith
Counsellor • Author • Publisher • Educator
Our relationship with Patricia began in 2008, when she was looking for a website that reflected both her professionalism and her personality. She specializes in Counselling, Coaching, and Mediation, with a unique focus on helping individuals and couples navigate the financial realities that often affect relationships.
From the very beginning, this project became much more than a website.
Patricia has always loved ladybugs, so I designed a custom logo that incorporated one of her favourite symbols—creating a brand that has remained recognizable for nearly two decades. Like me, she is an avid gardener, and I’ve always admired the calm, grounded presence she brings to everything she does. There is an authenticity to Patricia that can’t be designed into a website—it simply shines through—and my role has always been to ensure her online presence reflects that same quiet confidence.
As Patricia’s career evolved, so did our work together.
When she completed her first book, The Vow Factors, I helped connect her with a trusted Canadian publisher through a professional contact. From there, I designed the entire interior book layout in Adobe InDesign, preparing the finished print-ready book block for publication.
Once the book was published, we created TheVowFactors.com, providing a dedicated online home where readers could purchase both the printed and digital editions while learning more about Patricia’s work.
The following year, Patricia wrote a second book, The Lighter Side of Happily Ever After, a collection of humorous illustrations and observations about relationships. Once again, I prepared the complete book layout for publication, ensuring it was professionally formatted for print.
One of the greatest honours of our relationship has been being acknowledged in both of Patricia’s books. Those acknowledgements mean more to me than any project itself because they represent years of trust, collaboration, and friendship.
As Patricia’s publishing work expanded, we created Ladybug Publisher, giving her an online presence dedicated to her publishing activities and growing catalogue.
Most recently, we completed a complete redesign of Patricia-Smith.ca, modernizing the website while preserving the warmth and professionalism clients have come to know. Today, our work continues as we begin developing an online learning platform that will allow Patricia to share decades of counselling experience, practical relationship tools, and educational programs with people around the world.
This project has never been about simply maintaining websites.
It has been about helping one remarkable professional grow from counsellor, to author, to publisher, to educator—while ensuring every new chapter builds naturally on the one before it.
